After the Rally

The Motorhome Rally at Deniliquin has come and gone. We had a good time there with the nightly entertainment, meeting people and the disk bowls competition. Di and I lasted a few rounds before being knocked out, better luck we hope at Casino. The river is very scenic considering that just six weeks before it had been in flood, we did an afternoon cruise in a houseboat. There were 1069 motorhomes at the rally.
Following the rally we took a leisurely trip back to Sydney so we could sell our old campervan to a dealer.  We travelled back via Finley, Jerilderie, Lockhart, Coolamon, Temora, Harden, Boorowa, Cowra, Canowindra, Carcoar Dam then Bathurst and home. In Canowindra we visited the 'Age of Fishes Museum' which is devoted to fossil fish from 350 Million years ago that were found locally they predate dinosaurs. In Cowra we went to the Japanese Gardens which were beautifully laid out and well worth the visit. Carcoar Dam campsite was a freebee - we had a good position looking down over the lake. As we are travelling mostly away from main highways we get to see a lot of country towns. The disappointing thing is the number of businesses in the towns that have shut down with empty shops lining the street. In Ariah Park it seemed that most of the shop fronts were filled with memorabilia one sign seemed to say it all.

We got home on Anzac day , sold the HiAce campervan on the Friday for a very much reduced price to what we wanted and left again on Saturday. We traveled up the coast visiting Lloyd's sister at Woongara, Cheryl and Ian Crawford at Tuncurry, and Pauline and Frank McClements, Anne and Mark and their new daughter Rachel at Tionee. We are now at Glenreagh at the recreation grounds campsite (Tuesday 10th May) and move on to Grafton tomorrow to get a stone chip on the windscreen repaired before going to Wooli on the coast for a few days then up to Casino for the motorhome club Disk Bowls festival week starting 16th May.
